Muraba Veil: Dubai’s Thinnest Tower

Dubai's Thinnest Tower

RCR Arquitectes, a Spanish architecture firm known for its context-sensitive, sustainable projects with an environmentally conscious approach, has transformed Dubai’s evolving skyline. Located on the Sheikh Zayed Road and vibrant Al Wasl district, the luxurious residential tower connects with prestigious landmarks, such as Jumeirah Beach, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Dubai International Airport, ensuring easy accessibility and connectivity to the cultural and commercial areas.

Tradition Meets Modernism: Courtyard and Mashrabiya

Dubai's Thinnest Tower

Inspired by the UAE’s traditional vernacular architecture, the design philosophy is centred around traditional elements like courtyards and mashrabiya, reinterpreted into the thinnest vertical tower that offers a sense of serenity and protects from Dubai’s harsh summers. This conscious approach makes Muraba Veil a striking example of a luxurious living experience that belongs to the distinct nature of the site and surroundings. The built form follows minimalism, clean lines, and simple forms integrated with open spaces and connected with nature.

A Modern Dynamic stainless steel Facade

The outer dynamic facade of Muraba Veil was the key element of the custom design, crafted from operable stainless steel mesh that envelops the building, acting as a modern-day mashrabiya. The veil, the breathing skin of the building, protects the structure from wind exposure, filters light, and reflects the ever-changing sky, playing a crucial role in the building’s sustainable performance. The minimalist design of the facade evokes the elegance of architecture and modernity embedded in cutting-edge technology.

One Residence, One Floor

Collaborating with the developer, Muraba Properties, and technical specialist Arup, the slender skyscraper rises 380 meters tall, blending materiality, light, and landscape. The interior and exterior were thoughtfully designed to provide privacy and tranquillity with an eco-conscious approach. The 73-storey tower offers 131 luxurious apartments ranging from two to five bedrooms, spanning the entire floor space of 22.5 meters, and providing panoramic views of Dubai’s intriguing skyline.

Drawing inspiration from Arabian courtyards, the interiors were crafted from wood, stone, and a neutral colour palette, resulting in a minimalist layout featuring a private, planted atrium or stepped terrace. Luxurious amenities such as the Dune wellness club will offer residents a 12-meter-high subterranean spa, an experiential pool, a sauna, a state-of-the-art gym, a rooftop swimming pool, a private cinema, and a Majlis lounge for community engagement, fostering sustainable buildings in Dubai.

Sustainable Luxury Living

The stainless steel operable facade protects the inner layer of the structure and living spaces, reducing the building’s dependency on artificial cooling, which is essential in Dubai’s climate. Sustainable modern elements, lush green gardens, and water fountains are integrated within the private terraces and public spaces, creating a natural thermal buffer and a healthy living environment.

Inspired by the desert landscape, Muraba Veil strikes a shimmering effect, blending with the background and reflecting the colours of the sky, evoking a serene and meditative living experience for both mind and body.
