EctoLife, the world’s first artificial womb facility

The concept of the EctoLife facility was designed by biotechnologist and science communicator Hashem Al-Ghaili which shows what childbirth might look like future. The artificial womb facility is powered entirely by renewable energy.

EctoLife is designed to help countries that are suffering from low populations. The facility enables infertile couples to conceive and become true biological parents of their own children. EctoLife’s concept reminds us of Aldous Huxley’s 1932 dystopian novel “Brave New World”.

The facility has 75 well-equipped labs. Each cutting-edge lab can house up to 400 growth pods or artificial wombs. Every pod is designed to mimic the exact conditions found inside the uterus. Each year, a single building can incubate up to 30,000 lab-grown babies. Each pod has special sensors with monitor signals such as heartbeat, blood pressure, breathing rate, and oxygen saturation. Also, Artificial intelligence generated a system to monitor all physical features of babies and report any potential genetic abnormalities in real-time data.

EctoLife pods feature internal speakers that play a wide range of music and words in that way babies can recognize languages and learn while still in the pods. Along with this, a special app allows you to record and watch your baby’s growth. Also with this app, you can create a playlist for your baby with your favorite music or your voice.

EctoLife enhances your bonding with your baby. You will be able to sense your baby’s kicks in the womb using a wireless haptic suit connected to your baby’s growth pod and share this experience with your friends and family members. You can use your virtual reality headset to explore what it’s like to be in your baby’s shoes thanks to a 360 camera installed inside your baby’s growth pod.

In the EctoLife facility babies also receive the best nutrients that support their growth/development and each pod is connected to the main bioreactor. The second bioreactor can recycle waste products and useful nutrients.

According ta Hashem Al-Ghaili, miscarriage and low sperm count are no longer an issue with EctoLife. In Vitro Fertilization is used prior to placing your baby’s fertilized embryo inside the growth pod to create and select the most viable and genetically superior embryo, giving your baby a chance to develop without any biological obstacles.

Also, EctoLife has package programs, according to their press release, if you want your baby to stand out and have a better future, EcoLife’s Elite Package allows you to genetically engineer the embryo before implanting it in the artificial womb. In this package, you can edit any trait of your baby using the CRISPR-Cas 9 gene editing tool, which has over 300 genes.

The Elite Package allows you to customize many things such as your baby’s eye color, hair color, skin tone, physical strength, height, and level of intelligence by genetically engineering a set of genes. It also enables you to correct any inherited genetic diseases in your family history, ensuring that your baby and their offspring live a healthy, comfortable life free of genetic diseases.

EctoLife makes use of highly efficient, clean, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. The advanced pods operate with minimal energy requirements, making it possible for your baby to reach full term without complications.
