The hyperbolic paraboloid shapes mounted atop the cape of Prairie Basin Park are a sight to adore. Designed by Volkan Alkanoglu, the Phantom Pavilion located at Stapelton, CO is conceived as a light-weight curved structure. Aesthetically assembled with two cross-laminated layers of aluminum acting as the structural shell. The sculpture assembled with 1,162 painted cross-laminated aluminium elements creates a vibrant hue on the visitors. International architecture and design firm Mask Architects have been chosen as one of the ten winning designs for the Cool Abu Dhabi Challenge competition, in envisioning palm-like futuristic structures sprouting from the ground, mimicking the shape of a mushroom. An undulating walking trail has been created by the Rotterdam based architecture studio Powerhouse Company as part of the development plan in Chengdu, China. This informal icon, also known as the Loop of Wisdom twists, twirls, curls, folds and follows the lush green terrain, winding and lacing through a vivid park promoting healthy relationships in an aesthetic balance. A sculptural concrete façade is envisioned by the Australian studio Contreras Earl Architecture in collaboration with engineering and sustainability consultants Arup and Werner Sobek for the world’s first dedicated Living Coral Biobank in Port Douglas, Australia.
