The Huiyang Station in the Nanzhan New City area of Huiyang District faces the sea and aims to promote industrial development that attracts investment and talent. Aedas has designed the Huizhou Huiyang Station Comprehensive Transportation Hub, and with the construction of the Shenshan Railway, travel time to Nanshan and Luohu in Shenzhen is significantly reduced, facilitating development in Shenzhen and Huizhou.

The project consists of railway stations built along the hillside, creating varying elevations within the area. The Shenzhen Railway Station divides the project into southern and northern plots, with the former primarily mountainous and the latter being the location for TOD facilities and property development.

    Masterplan

Efficient TOD planning is necessary to reconnect fragmented urban spaces through infrastructure and ensure high connectivity within the surrounding developments. To address the complex plot conditions, the design takes an integrated approach, connecting national railways, subways, interchanging stations, and pedestrian systems to the city, facilitating commercial development above the stations. The design situates the station in the south and urban development in the north.

A T-shaped pedestrian path connects three station buildings and facilities, promoting smooth circulation and integrating underground retail and transport space with above-ground public spaces. The stations provide a link between above and underground waiting lounges, allowing visitors to move freely within the building. In addition, the design integrates the railways with High-Speed railways and optimizes circulation to meet the diverse needs of tourists.

“This is the latest generation hub in Huizhou merging the station, the city and the nature, providing a sense of arrival to visitors.”

    Aedas Executive Director, Leon Liang

The Shenzhen Railway Station features a fluid architectural form with an elevated rooftop in the middle, introducing the landscape scenery to the station and blurring the boundary between the station and the city. The design employs a combination of wood-colored metal and translucent grilles.
