Foster + Partners Industrial Design has collaborated with ESCOFET, an urban furniture manufacturer in Spain, to launch two outdoor furniture collections. Tiers and Gather, created in consultation with the practice’s urban design and landscape design teams, provide varying degrees of privacy and ergonomic support to accommodate a variety of demands. Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) creates the enduring elements’ thin and streamlined contour.

The Tiers family includes a bench (45 centimeters), table or perch (74 centimeters), high table (105 centimeters), and low stool. These urban furniture elements can be arranged in various combinations for work, socializing, or relaxation. Comfort and drainage are enhanced by the cushioned edges, and the design team utilized 3D printers to achieve a seamless transition between the leg and seat. All three linear elements share similar mold components.
Gather is a multipurpose modular seating system designed to establish more secluded and tranquil outdoor spaces. Various combinations of linear, concave, convex, and end modules result in enclosed pocket spaces, straight benches, and seating around green islands, among other arrangements. The backrest is composed of a branch-like spine that gradually tapers to a thickness of only 40 millimeters. Gather is offered in four distinct concrete hues.
