Introduction

The workshop presents the powerful potential of Cinema4D’s parametric design and animation tools. C4D is very easy to use and allows to quickly create animations that help to present the architectural ideas in their most effective form. With most of the social media platforms emphasizing video content, Cinema 4D is an important skill to have in the ever-evolving online world.

The Scope of the Workshop:

The workshop demonstrates the design workflows of Motion architectural Artifacts created by Amey Kandalgaonkar using Cinema 4D. In the final quarter of the workshop, we will introduce participants to the Octane Render plugin for Cinema 4D using free sample textures and 3D assets from Poliigon and Quixel megascans.

Program:

Session 1: Saturday, 18th November, 2023

  • Quick Introduction to Cinema4d Interface
  • Hard surface modeling
  • Use of Deformers and hyper NURBS
  • Parametric MoGraph cloning tools
  • Controlling the behavior of clones using effectors and fields
  • Animating clones with noise using effectors
  • A controlled breakup of objects using Voronoi fracture

Session 2: Sunday, 19th November, 2023

  • Physical simulations with rigid body dynamics
  • Cloth simulations
  • Thinking particles and forces
  • Exploring the power of Volume Builder
  • Putting together a nature scene in C4D using textures and assets
  • Rendering the scene using Octane Render
  • Setting up cameras, lighting, and creating materials
  • Understanding animation settings for Octane and Cinema4d

Software:

  • Maxon Cinema 4D
Download ‘MAXON APP’ for access to the C4D trial
  • Octane Render
Download the Trial Version. You will find the demo version for Octane C4D under ‘Fully Integrated Plugins’ section.

Note: For optimal performance of Octane render, it is necessary to use Nvidia GeForce 20 and 30 series graphic cards. Please note that AMD, Intel, and older generations of Nvidia graphic cards may not be compatible with the latest version of Octane render. For more information on system requirements, please visit the Octane render FAQ.

Important Notes:

  • The “Motion Dynamics with C4D” Studio workshop by PAACADEMY will start on Saturday, 18th November, at 10:00 (GMT).
  • Total sessions: 2 Sessions
  • The teaching duration per session will be 4 hours.
  • Students will have time for a break between teaching hours.
  • Each session and the entire studio will be recorded, and videos will be available for participants just a day after the class for unlimited time.
  • PAACADEMY will provide a certificate of attendance.
  • No previous knowledge of any software is required. You will learn everything in the workshop.
  • The studio has limited seats. Tickets are non-transferable & non-refundable. Please read carefully before you register.

Instructor:

Amey Kandalgaonkar

Amey graduated with a March in Architectural Design from The Bartlett, UCL, in 2011 and has lived and worked in Mumbai, London, and Shanghai. He resides in Vancouver and works as a project design manager at Arno Matis Architecture. Amey has been developing his Instagram design blog for the past five years using Cinema4D and Octane, which has gathered 100k followers. Architectural work from his blog has been published by ParametricArchitecture, Dezeen, Archdaily, Designboom, Hypebeast, and Instagram’s main page.
